What to expect:

  • Fermentation Fundamentals
Participate in an in-depth, instructional workshop* with Kyle Nicol where you'll learn how to create your own sauerkraut, dill pickles, and fresh cheese curds at home. Kyle will talk you through these various processes while demonstrating how it's done... he assures us that it's easier than you think! You'll take home a jar and a bunch of tips so you can easily get started in your home kitchen.
     * This is an instructional workshop as opposed to a hands-on class. Guests will be sat at the bar, overlooking Kyle as he moves through the kitchen and demonstrates fermentation techniques while talking you through the steps. You're encouraged to bring a notebook and are welcome to take photos during the session!
  • Interactive Q&A
Throughout the session, you'll be engaging with Kyle, a talented and super friendly chef who is passionate about fermentation! There'll be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and gain insights as the class progresses. You'll also be able to chat with a Scarf team member and graduate throughout.
  • Top-notch Snacks & Drinks
Enjoy a selection of delicious Lilac Wine snacks and Scarf Partner beverages as you watch and learn from Kyle. Shared snacks and one glass of Unico Zelo wine or NON (0%) are included in the ticket price. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.

.

Why Attend?

Kyle is generously running this class to support Scarf's current fundraising efforts, which will ensure we can work with at least 40 new trainees** over the next 12 months. 100% of ticket proceeds will be donated to Scarf.

** Scarf is a not-for-profit social enterprise (and registered charity) which transforms lives through hospitality. Since 2010, we’ve been running hands-on hospitality training, mentoring and paid work experience programs in Melbourne restaurants. We work closely with the community sector and the hospitality industry to make employment more equitable for young people facing barriers to work. Scarf trainees are keen, resilient young people seeking protection, and those from refugee and migrant backgrounds who have little or no work experience in Australia. In thirteen years, we’ve partnered with over 100 generous hospitality businesses to transform over 300 young lives. Scarf Dinners and events are a positive, supportive environment where participants thrive and gain real-world experience. Scarf graduates are part of a unique learning community and move on to jobs with new-found confidence, skills, knowledge and networks.
