We're beyond excited to report that Scarf Dinners are back! As part of our Tasting Plate for Women program, we're running this very special dinner on Tuesday 25 May. The dinner will run from 6.00pm until approximately 9.30pm. If you'd prefer to attend the dinner on Tuesday 8 June, head here

Here's some more detail -

  • We're working in partnership with two of our favourite female-led outfits to bring these dinners to life. Thi Le and her team from Anchovy will be doing the cooking. If you're not familiar with Anchovy's food, take a look here
  • The event will be styled and set up by the team from Merchant Road Events, an amazing social enterprise who provide training and employment to young women from refugee backgrounds
  • The front-of-house, like all Scarf Dinners and events, will be staffed by Scarf trainees and mentors. The trainees have recently graduated from a three-day Tasting Plate short course with Scarf, thanks to support from Melbourne Women's Fund. Scarf trainees are paid award wages for their work, and for most of the Tasting Plate graduates, this will be their first taste of paid employment in Australia
  • There are two types of tickets, available for purchase below. $90 includes 4 courses (canapes + entree + main + dessert) from Anchovy + matched booze-free cocktails. $120 includes 4 courses from Anchovy + matched wine and cocktails. There will be a drinks list available on the night for any additional drinks which you may wish to purchase.

More about the menu

At these special Scarf Dinners, we'll be serving a four course set menu, designed and cooked by the Thi Le and the Anchovy team, who are renowned for their modern, Southeast Asian cuisine. As these are large events (with 80 guests in attendance), there are limitations on which dietary requirements* can be catered for. Please take note of the following before making your booking:

  • the menu will cater for gluten-free guests/guests with coeliac disease/those who are pregnant. Please specify when booking
  • the menu can be adapted to suit guests who are vegetarian (but OK with fish sauce) or pescatarian. Please specify when booking
  • apologies, but the menu will not be able to cater for: no onion, no garlic, no sugars, no chilli, no fish sauce, no sesame

* Please keep in mind that Scarf's next season of dinners, Winter Scarf '21, will begin on Wednesday 23 June. This season of Scarf Dinners will run for eight Wednesdays at Stomping Ground Beer Hall in Collingwood. The Scarf menu we'll be serving at Stomping Ground will have choices and more flexibility on dietary requirements. Bookings for Winter Scarf Dinners will open in early June. Please sign up to our e-newsletter to receive details.

Merchant Road is a big, beautiful events space which will be set up with eight long tables of ten. You may book for a group of any size (groups over ten people will have to be split across multiple tables), and if you're booking individually, just make sure you let us know who you'd like to be seated with - you can do this by responding directly to your confirmation email. Refund policy

Unless the event is postponed/cancelled due to COVID-related restrictions (which we're crossing our fingers won't be the case, of course!), we are unfortunately unable to offer refunds on tickets. If you are unable to honour your booking, you are welcome to pass your ticket on to someone else; please advise us on the change of booking name by emailing Mel - [email protected]. If you give us sufficient notice (ideally 4-5 days) that you will not be able to honour your booking, we will try and facilitate passing on your tickets to someone on the waiting list.

Booking for this event has now closed.
