Who We Work With

Scarf provides front of house training opportunities to young people (18-28 years) seeking protection, and those from refugee or migrant backgrounds facing barriers to work. Scarf programs offer training, mentoring and paid work experience in real restaurants. Scarf graduates finish the program with local references and strong networks into the Melbourne hospitality industry. 70% of Scarf graduates find employment within six months of completing the program. Scarf is committed to generating as much income as possible through Scarf Dinners and events, but we also apply for philanthropic grants to help with program delivery, providing individualised Wellbeing and Job Readiness support for trainees and recent graduates, and capacity building. We're incredibly grateful to our current and recent funders, who include Inner North Community Foundation, Lord Mayors Charitable Foundation, Bank Australia, Melbourne Women's Fund & Accor Foundation.
