Market Lane fundraise for Scarf for the third year in a row

On Friday 26 January Market Lane Coffee fundraised for Scarf for the third year running, bringing in a huge $3001.50 to support Scarf programs. They opened their Faraday St, Therry St and South Melbourne stores for the first half of the day, with all coffee beans and milk donated. And, a bunch of awesome Market Lane staff volunteered their time so that 100% of proceeds would come directly to Scarf. We’d like to express a huge thank you to Monika, David, Rose, Ashley, Cal, Mariah, Fleur and Jenni for giving up their public holidays so that we can get more young people into Scarf programs. And especially to super Sam (Scarf mentor and Market Lane manager) for bringing it all together, and slinging a bunch of cold brew on the day.

The three stores brought in a total of $2,672 in coffee sales, and customers generously donated an additional $329.50 via the Scarf donation jars. With just over $3,000 coming our way, we’ll be able to provide 120 hours of paid work experience to Scarf trainees in 2018! This kind of fundraising is a huge help for Scarf, allowing us to continue paying our trainees a wage, which is super important in valuing trainees’ contributions to Scarf Dinners. It also allows Scarf to count as real, paid work experience in the Melbourne hospitality industry, which is greatly valued by employers. Big thanks to Market Lane and everyone who came down for a coffee in support of Scarf!
